CTD Networks Inc. (Chuo Ward, Tokyo, hereinafter referred to as CTD) has delivered the fire detection, rapid temperature rise detection, and flame detection system "HEAT SHIFT Fire and Smoke Watcher for Vehicle Carrier" (hereinafter referred to as HEAT SHIFT Fire Smoke for VC) to the 4,000-unit capacity car carrier "POSITIVE CHALLENGER," which is operated by Eastern Car Liner Co., Ltd. (Shinagawa Ward, Tokyo) and managed by ECL Ship Management Co., Ltd. (same). This vessel has obtained certification from the Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (NK) indicating that it has implemented additional fire safety measures for the maritime transport of electric vehicles (EVs), known as "AFVC (Additional Fire-Fighting measures for Vehicle Carrier)." In recent years, there have been frequent fire incidents worldwide on car carriers during navigation, believed to be caused by lithium-ion batteries installed in EVs. The "HEAT SHIFT Fire Smoke for VC" serves as a powerful backup tool for vessels facing such challenges in their operations.

(Chuo Ward, Tokyo) has released and started shipping the "HEAT SHIFT Fire and Smoke Watcher for Vehicle Carrier," an abnormal temperature rise, smoke, and fire detection system for car carriers, on September 20, 2024. This system utilizes the latest AI image analysis technology to enable early smoke detection with minimal smoke in the initial stages of a fire, as well as rapid detection of sudden temperature rises (with optional time and temperature range settings) and quick abnormal detection of flames. This allows for faster fire detection compared to traditional smoke detection-only fire detection systems, enhancing the effectiveness of initial firefighting in case of emergencies and ensuring the safety of both crew members and cargo.
