The "Polyfah heater" is a product made from a new material polyurea resin that has characteristics such as high strength, high elongation, elasticity, and chemical resistance, along with a CNT fabric heater (fiber-like heating element). Polyurea is primarily formed by the chemical reaction between isocyanate and amino groups, resulting in urea bonds. These bonds are strong, making it less prone to hydrolysis compared to polyurethane, and it excels in water resistance, corrosion resistance, and chemical resistance. The "Snow Melting Nano Mat" is a registered trademark of NEXCO Central Japan, and our company manufactures it as an OEM. At JR East, we have been developing our fabric heater as a measure against icicles on the walking surface and sides of station platforms. The development has been completed, and we have been working to provide it to the private sector since the first year of Reiwa. Installation has already begun at customer entrances in commercial facilities. Compared to traditional methods that involve embedding electric heating wires, this method reduces construction costs and running costs. Vehicles operating on snow-covered cold ground face various challenges related to snow. Our company is advancing research and development with JR East on vehicle components that have snow-melting functions by utilizing technology to convert "fabric heaters" into FRP. We would like to introduce the development of measures against frost and fog damage for one-man mirrors. Electric heating wires struggle with uniform snow melting and ice prevention due to low temperatures between the wires. The "fabric heater" maintains a uniform temperature across its surface, allowing for even snow melting and prevention of snow accumulation. At JR East Japan, one-man mirrors and general curved mirrors are used to maintain a clear mirror surface for safety confirmation. We will introduce a case study on ice pillar countermeasures using a "fabric heater." We have developed snow melting products in collaboration with NEXCO Central Japan, and this evaluation focuses on countermeasures against icicles inside tunnels. It has been confirmed that icicles on the meltwater drainage pipes are prevented from forming overall by the warm rising air from the fabric heater installed at the bottom. This is a unique application of the thin and lightweight fabric heater. Our company is developing snow damage countermeasure products using surface heating elements. In light of the difficulties faced by disaster victims in keeping warm during the Great East Japan Earthquake, we decided to work on developing a system that can easily secure thermal energy even in emergencies. The developed system warms the surface heating element to around 20°C to facilitate snow melting. While the surface heating element has the advantages of quick startup and the ability to be cut to any size, it cannot generate heat without electricity. To address this, we developed a system that combines commercial power sources with batteries and an independent solar power generation system, allowing for power generation even during outages.
