Since last year's declaration of carbon neutrality by Prime Minister Suga, the call for "decarbonization" has been growing louder. Metal heat treatment has been faced with significant challenges as a processing stage that generates a high amount of CO2, leading to what can truly be called a "carbon shock." Our company has long been engaged in ammonia quenching, known as "nitriding quenching." I believe that the CO2-free "nitriding quenching" holds great potential as a decarbonized heat treatment method.
