Textiles are a general term for fabric products made by interlacing warp (vertical threads) and weft (horizontal threads). Pile fabrics are those in which hair-like or looped threads protrude from the surface of the fabric. Pile fabrics can be classified into several types based on differences in manufacturing methods, each having distinct characteristics. Fabric is created by inserting (weaving) the weft threads between the intersecting warp threads. This part serves as the base material to hold the pile and is referred to as the "base fabric" or "ground." By arbitrarily changing the material, thickness, length, tufting interval, and tufting shape of the pile, the characteristics of pile fabrics can be varied for a wide range of applications. Their uses are diverse, including cleaning delicate items, filling gaps, dust prevention, filtration, cushioning, thermal insulation, and water retention.
