Free membership registrationWood One Co., Ltd. has added doors made of domestic coniferous wood, specifically cypress, to its lineup of solid wood kitchens "su:iji," which features the charm of a furniture-like atmosphere while utilizing the texture of wood. Previously available in four types, including New Zealand Pine®, oak, maple, and walnut, this addition marks the first new species in 12 years. **Features of the solid wood kitchen "su:iji" made from domestic cypress:** 1. It is made from domestic cypress. As a representative conifer of Japan, cypress has been used in various parts of architecture for a long time and is known for its resistance to water and bacteria. The doors of su:iji use straight-grained, knot-free wood grown in Japan, blessed with four seasons. To enhance the natural white tone of cypress, we carefully select materials that consider the yellowing that occurs during drying. 2. A finish that values the texture of cypress. The drying time of the wood can result in color variations. The base material features both red heartwood and white sapwood, but to minimize this color difference, a light white paint (clear white color) is applied. The elongated wood grain stands out even more, giving the kitchen a sense of cleanliness. 3. Storage cupboards made from the same material are also available. They harmonize well with homes that have a Japanese aesthetic.
