The "Monozukuri Japan Award" honors particularly outstanding individuals from various generations involved in "monozukuri" (manufacturing), including mid-career professionals who play a central role in manufacturing and production sites, skilled workers who have supported traditional and cultural "techniques," and young talents who will carry the future. This award is jointly organized by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and has been held every two years since 2005, marking its 8th edition this time. Tabata Co., Ltd., a group company of Nippon Special Tatami Co., Ltd., received the award in the traditional technology application category.
