The "sulfurized smoked finish" is a processing finish that artificially promotes the brownish surface design that appears on copper alloys as they age. It involves directly applying chemicals to the surface of architectural hardware products, brushing to adjust the color tone, and then applying a clear coat finish, also known as dry sulfurization.
