Free membership registrationOn May 30th (Thursday), I will give a presentation on the development background of guiding mats at the COIL Seminar vol.23 "Accessible Design that Values Diversity" held in Tokyo. This seminar will focus on accessible design, which is a shared design that is easy to use for both people with and without disabilities. Through the introduction of actual good examples, we will discuss the definition of accessible design, which has come to replace universal design, and the importance of understanding the needs of people with disabilities, as well as methods for developing products and services that value diversity. The visually impaired walking guidance soft mat "Hodokun Guideway" was developed by individuals with visual impairments and is designed to be easy to use regardless of the presence or type of disability. It has been adopted by government offices, blind schools, sports facilities, and more across the country. Please come and hear the development story in person at the venue.
