The Computational Mechanics Research Center Co., Ltd. will hold a seminar where you can experience an overview of the highly efficient mesher "ANSYS ICEM CFD." Particularly powerful features include the ability to create tetrahedral meshes using various methods, top-down meshing that allows mesh generation without the need to modify CAD shapes even if there are defects in them, very robust hex meshing, and options for mesh editing and improving mesh quality. We also welcome participation from users. Please take this opportunity to try it out. 【Agenda】 ■ 13:30–14:00 Introduction to ANSYS ICEM CFD ■ 14:00–15:00 Overview of tetrahedral and prism meshes ■ 15:00–15:30 Hands-on: Creating tetrahedral and prism meshes ■ 15:30–15:45 Break ■ 15:45–16:00 Overview of hex meshes ■ 16:00–16:30 Hands-on: Creating hex meshes

Free membership registrationWe have been delivering our acoustic analysis initiatives in a beginner's session in April and an intermediate session in May via webinar. This time, as the third installment, we will present an advanced session: Fundamentals of Airflow Noise Analysis. After reviewing the basics of fluid noise phenomena, we will focus on acoustic phenomena related to airflow and share the results of simulations conducted using CAE tools. We hope you will see what insights can be gained from simulations using simple example problems. We also plan to touch briefly on external noise and vehicle pass-by noise.

Free membership registrationAsics Corporation, Sports Engineering Research Institute, Functional Research Department Case Study To improve the necessary stability in shoes, a high rigidity heel counter inserted in the heel area of the shoe is required. On the other hand, shoes also need to be lightweight, so we designed the heel counter to achieve a balance between these two requirements. [Background] To enhance the necessary stability in shoes, a high rigidity heel counter inserted in the heel area of the shoe is essential. [Solution] We derived boundary conditions that can reproduce the deformation state of the heel during actual running using Femap with NX Nastran. Furthermore, we optimized the topology of the heel counter under these boundary conditions. [Required Functions for Shoes (Excerpt)] ■ Flexibility (Does it bend along the foot?) ■ Cushioning (Does it absorb impact?) ■ Stability (Does it place excessive strain on the foot joints?) ■ Breathability (Does it prevent the foot from getting sweaty?) ■ Lightweight (Does it avoid unnecessary burden?) In shoe development, it is important to design these required functions in a well-balanced manner.

Free membership registrationThe Computational Mechanics Research Center will hold a seminar related to acoustic analysis on March 27, 2020. In recent years, the demand for noise reduction in industrial products has been increasing, and many people may be interested in acoustic analysis. This seminar is aimed at such individuals, especially beginners. We have prepared simple topics assuming no prior experience in "acoustic analysis" or "CAE." We hope that this opportunity will allow you to experience the reality of "acoustic analysis" through the operation of the general-purpose acoustic analysis software 'Actran.' We look forward to your participation.
