JLDN (Japanese Lightning Detection Network) is a nationwide lightning observation network operated by Franklin Japan. It consists of 31 sensors from Hokkaido to Okinawa, creating an observation network that seamlessly covers all of Japan. Previously, each manufacturing site dealt with lightning (and instantaneous voltage drops) by making independent judgments based on weather forecasts and visual assessments.
