In recent years, sliding sash windows have felt heavy to open and close, haven't they? This is because sash windows have been getting larger year by year, and there has also been a demand for improved water and air tightness. In response, our company has developed a "pull handle with an assist mechanism" that can be operated with light force, aiming to make life more comfortable for children and the elderly. The design concept is "reducing the initial operating force." When the handle is slid, a built-in arm extends, and a tip roller kicks against the sash frame to assist with the initial operation. [Conditions and Issues] ■ As sash windows have been getting larger year by year, and with the demand for improved water and air tightness, recent sliding sash windows feel heavy to open and close. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationAccordion gates, commonly used in residential garages, can sometimes feel difficult to open and close due to misalignment between the gate post and the gate itself. This issue arises because it is challenging to align the heights of the gate post and the gate during installation. Our "Lever-type Accordion Gate Lock" features a horizontally positioned latch. This design allows for smooth opening and closing even when there is significant vertical misalignment between the gate post and the gate. Additionally, it incorporates a "link mechanism" that combines sliding and rotational movements within a very small space at the top bridge of the handle. [Conditions and Issues] ■ Users of accordion gates in residential garages may experience difficulty opening and closing due to misalignment between the gate post and the gate. ■ This issue occurs because aligning the heights of the gate post and the gate is difficult during installation. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationWe have renewed the sliding door wheels used in household dish cabinets. It has a height adjustment feature, but until now, a screwdriver was needed for the adjustment. The client's request was to reduce costs by decreasing the number of parts. Therefore, we thought about integrating the operation dial with the height adjustment screw, allowing it to be turned directly by hand. This not only eliminates the need for gears but also removes the need for a screwdriver, making the operation inside the cabinet safe and comfortable. As a result of prototype testing, there were no concerns about screw loosening as initially feared, and we quickly moved towards product commercialization. 【Conditions and Challenges】 ■ Renewal of sliding door wheels used in household dish cabinets ■ Height adjustment feature is included, but a screwdriver was previously required for adjustment ■ Client's request is to reduce costs by decreasing the number of parts *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationOld sliding doors are difficult to open and close for children and the elderly, causing inconvenience in the movement of people within the household. The remaining door also disrupts the harmony of the indoor space, making family gatherings less comfortable. Moreover, the impact of opening and closing not only creates noise but also poses a significant risk of accidents. Therefore, we thought that if we could realize a sliding door that operates quietly and lightly, and closes naturally, it could contribute to a new Japanese lifestyle characterized by calmness and harmony. Starting from the groundbreaking idea of running an air cylinder together with the door rollers, we succeeded in compacting all the mechanisms into a small rail. 【Conditions and Challenges】 ■ We want to achieve comfortable indoor sliding doors for children and the elderly. ■ Old sliding doors are difficult to open and close for children and the elderly, causing inconvenience in the movement of people within the household. ■ Additionally, the remaining door disrupts the harmony of the indoor space, making family gatherings less comfortable. ■ The impact of opening and closing not only creates noise but also poses a risk of accidents. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationAlthough there were opening limit devices for sliding windows, most of them were installed at the top or bottom of the window, which caused issues such as the sash tilting and getting damaged during opening restrictions. Additionally, with larger windows, operations would take place overhead or at foot level, leading to a lack of comfort. In response, our company focused on providing a comfortable operation for the elderly and those with physical disabilities by implementing opening restrictions at the sash meeting point near the center of the window. Similar to casement windows, we adopted a specification that limits the operation of fully open and partially open positions to specific users by equipping it with a dedicated key. As a result, we have received positive feedback for being able to install it safely in children's rooms, hospital rooms, and welfare facilities, making it a long-selling product. [Background and Issues] - Since the launch of the safety stopper (for casement windows), we have received many requests from customers for a similar product for sliding windows. - Given that sliding windows are more common in Japanese houses and apartments, there is an urgent need for development to protect children from falling accidents. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.*

Free membership registrationWith the increase in high-rise living spaces and the expansion of openings, falls involving young children have become a social issue. In response, our company has devised an opening restriction at the sash edge. This allows us to maintain a consistent opening restriction amount regardless of the sash width. Additionally, a simple stopper is placed at the tip of the arm, enabling the temporary retention of the sliding door in the restricted opening state, thus achieving both fall prevention and natural ventilation. Furthermore, installation on the sash does not require any special processing such as notching, and can be done easily with just screws. 【Background and Issues】 - The increase in high-rise living spaces and the expansion of openings have made falls involving young children a social issue. - Conventional opening restriction devices mainly regulate the angle at the bottom frame of the sash, causing the opening restriction amount to vary depending on the sash width. - Customization to fit sash sizes is often required, leading to higher costs. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.*

Free membership registrationWhen closing the sliding door, if done with too much force, not only does a loud impact sound occur, but the door can bounce back and create a gap. To address this, SKB has combined two different actions, "deceleration" and "retraction," using an oil damper and a tension spring to enhance them into a comfortable series of movements within a single unit. Additionally, it can be installed on a compact rail with a small cross-section of 28×24mm, achieving stylish details that do not obstruct the interior. With our "soft close mechanism," there are no impact sounds or gaps left when closing or opening. [Conditions and Issues] ■ When closing the sliding door with too much force, not only does a loud impact sound occur, but the door can bounce back and create a gap. ■ There is a risk of pinching fingers. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationThe spring mechanism is commonly used in self-closing sliding doors and allows for the adjustment of spring strength based on the weight of the door and user preferences. However, frequent malfunctions occurred due to user operations (over-winding or loosening the spring). To address this issue, our company adopted a Geneva mechanism in the spring adjustment section and carved a spiral groove into the stopper, thereby solving the problem. The user-friendly and highly durable spring mechanism has been well-received as a long-selling product. [Background and Challenges] - The spring mechanism is often used in self-closing sliding doors. - While the spring strength can be adjusted based on the weight of the door and user preferences, malfunctions frequently occurred due to user operations (over-winding or loosening the spring). - Previous general spring mechanisms lacked stoppers or indicators to prevent over-winding or loosening. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*

Free membership registrationThere are many requests to install blinds on bathroom windows, but a significant issue regarding hygiene and maintenance is the growth of mold due to humidity. In response, our company has developed a double-glazed window with a curtain sealed between two panes of glass, which can be operated from the outside with a magnetic handle, offering excellent maintenance and versatility. By adopting a compact pleated curtain, we have managed to keep the thickness to a common 18mm for double-glazed windows, making it suitable for various locations such as bathrooms and hospitals. [Conditions and Challenges] ■ Cleaning and maintaining blinds or curtains that block sunlight and protect privacy can be a hassle. ■ There are many requests to install blinds on bathroom windows, but a significant issue regarding hygiene and maintenance is the growth of mold due to humidity. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationHeavy fixtures that gain speed accumulate significant kinetic energy and possess destructive power, which can lead to accidents involving the elderly and children. In response, our company has developed a mechanism that uses the centrifugal force generated by rotating tires to apply brakes, solving this problem. When the tires accelerate rapidly due to sudden opening and closing, the brake pads open due to centrifugal force. The opened brake pads are pressed against the case from the inside, which suppresses movement, and this, through gears, applies brakes to the rollers themselves, bringing the fixture to a stop. 【Conditions and Issues】 ■ With an increasing number of residents desiring larger openings, doors and windows are trending towards larger sizes and heavier weights, which could turn sashes and doors into dangerous objects that compromise comfort in daily life. ■ Heavy fixtures that gain speed accumulate significant kinetic energy and possess destructive power, which can lead to accidents involving the elderly and children. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
