[Case Study of Wooden Facility Renovation] Sendan Taki Falls

Appropriate renovation proposals are possible! Introducing cases where FRP materials were used for the renovation of three steel bridges.

We would like to introduce a case study of the renovation of three steel bridges at "Sendan Taki Falls (Yatsushiro City, Kumamoto Prefecture)." These bridges span a walking path that leads to a famous waterfall with a drop of 70 meters, located deep within the mountains of Gokasou. Due to the harsh climate, corrosion had progressed, necessitating a complete renovation. Access to the construction site was challenging due to the narrow road width and significant elevation changes, preventing the entry of construction vehicles and heavy machinery. As a result, manual transportation of materials and labor was required. Additionally, from the perspective of minimizing maintenance, FRP pull-out materials were utilized. To address the slippery floor surface caused by accumulated sediment and fallen leaves, as well as the splashing water from the falls, grating floor panels were used, enhancing the excitement of crossing the bridge. 【Renovation Case Study】 ■ Renovation Details: Three steel bridges (width 1.5m × length 16.3m, etc.) ■ Materials Used: - Structural Material: Steel → FRP - Floor Panels: Steel → FRP - Handrails: Steel → FRP Our company is capable of providing appropriate renovation proposals by combining various materials such as steel, aluminum alloys, FRP, recycled wood, and natural wood. For more details, please refer to our catalog or feel free to contact us.
