The recipient sets a passcode to unlock the box and keeps the door closed while the passcode is in a scrambled state. Unlike regular dial locks, which become inoperable when the numbers are scrambled, the "L-353" can still be operated even when the numbers are scrambled, and locking occurs when the main unit is turned.
