Impact on the durability of the coating / Preparation of the substrate is necessary.

Proper adjustment of the substrate is essential for maintaining the durability and lifespan of the paint.

The lifespan of metal coatings is generally considered to be around 10 to 30 years. The factors that influence this lifespan can be broadly categorized into the following four: Surface Preparation: Proper adjustment of the metal surface before painting is crucial. Cleaning and treating the surface improves the adhesion and durability of the coating. Number of Coats: It is also important to adhere to the appropriate number of coats. Ensuring sufficient coating thickness enhances the corrosion resistance of the metal. Type of Paint: The type of paint used significantly affects the lifespan. It is necessary to select appropriate paint that matches the metal's usage environment, considering factors like weather resistance and chemical resistance. Painting Techniques, Climate, and Surrounding Environment: The skills used in the painting process and the construction environment are also important factors. By employing appropriate painting techniques and considering climate conditions and the surrounding environment, the quality and lifespan of the coating can be improved. By properly managing these elements, the lifespan and corrosion resistance of metal coatings can be maximized. For more details, please refer to the PDF below. Primer required, prevents peeling.

If you apply topcoat paint without a primer, it will peel off. Compared to products that have both primer and topcoat, those without primer have weaker adhesion to the substrate, making the paint film more prone to peeling.

When comparing products that only have a topcoat without a primer to standard painting products that include a primer, it was found that the products without a primer easily had their paint film peel off. Primer paint has the dual effect of preventing rust and strongly adhering to the substrate and base material, so it cannot be omitted. Although the primer is not visible, it plays an important role in maintaining corrosion resistance. Additionally, if the primer is not applied properly, the topcoat may be applied unevenly or show inconsistencies, resulting in an unattractive finish. Furthermore, the primer enhances the permeability of the paint, allowing the topcoat to adhere better, which can improve the durability and anti-corrosive properties of the paint film. In other words, the primer is a crucial step that significantly affects not only the appearance but also the performance and lifespan of the paint. Therefore, omitting the primer greatly increases the likelihood of having a paint job that peels easily or products that are prone to rust, making it essential to always apply an appropriate primer.

The relationship between blasting and painting.

In painting, proper surface preparation (substrate treatment) is essential to achieve a good finish. The most effective method for surface preparation is blast treatment.

"Surface preparation" refers to the process of preparing the underlying material or substrate. Metals are melted, cooled, and solidified during the manufacturing process, but when exposed to high temperatures, they combine with oxygen in the atmosphere to form a film known as an oxide layer. If painting is done without removing this oxide layer and impurities, contaminants will mix between the paint and the substrate, leading to poor adhesion. Additionally, the functionality of the paint will not be realized due to the influence of impurities, preventing it from performing as intended. However, by using blasting to prepare the substrate, the surface oxide layer, rust, and other contaminants can be completely removed. Furthermore, by using angular abrasives, countless fine irregularities are created on the substrate, increasing the surface area for paint adhesion and preventing peeling. By cleaning and preparing the substrate with blasting before painting, the lifespan of the paint film can be extended two to three times, providing long-term economic benefits.

What is blast construction? Let me introduce you to blasting!

Blasting is a type of surface treatment that creates various sizes of unevenness on the surface of the material being targeted.

Blasting is a type of surface treatment that creates various sizes of unevenness on the surface of the material. It results in a matte finish that suppresses gloss, so it is surprisingly applied to products that are quite familiar to us. For more details, please refer to the PDF download below. Leave the blasting work in Hiroshima to Harada Ironworks!

Please feel free to consult us about sandblasting and grit blasting.

If you have requests for sandblasting or grit blasting in Hiroshima, please feel free to consult us. Blasting is a type of surface treatment process that involves colliding various particles with a material to remove the surface and create irregularities. Its effects are as follows: Surface cleaning: It removes oxidation films, rust, and dirt, achieving a clean surface. Improved adhesion: The increase in surface area due to the formation of irregularities creates an "anchor effect," enhancing adhesion with the paint. The durability of the paint is influenced by various factors such as the number of coats and the type of paint, but the impact of the grade of surface treatment can be as much as 50%. Surface preparation is the most important factor in painting. Harada Ironworks is a company with a proud history of 80 years in Hiroshima and possesses one of the largest blasting facilities in the Chugoku region.
