Bridge expansion device "N-FC Finger Joint"

A structure designed with consideration for workability during regular inspections from below the bridge and when replacing water-stopping materials after it has been put into service!

The "N-FC Finger Joint" is a bridge expansion device that protects the water-stopping material, which is essential for non-drainage functionality, and prevents early deterioration of bridge girder ends in snowy and cold regions. By adding a fin cover to the underside of the face plate and narrowing the gaps of the comb teeth, the proportion of soil, snow, and ice that enters the gaps and reaches the water-stopping material can be reduced to below 15% even at the lowest temperatures (-20°C), thereby preventing the deterioration of the water-stopping material.
