As an environmental model city, we implemented a pellet boiler with the aim of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. [Case Study of Wood Biomass Boiler Installation] Shoji Sawmill Kamabuchi Factory

We would like to introduce a case study regarding the introduction of a wood biomass boiler at Shoji Lumber Mill, Kamabuchi Factory. By converting the large amount of cedar bark (tree bark) generated in-house into boiler fuel for energy and drying wood, we are utilizing the forest as a "circular resource" and working towards CO2 reduction and effective waste utilization. This has become a model case for using bark as fuel, and biomass boilers have been installed at three facilities: Kanayama Factory, Kamabuchi Factory, and Mamurogawa Factory. We would like to introduce a case study on the introduction of a wood biomass boiler at the Kawashita-so in the Miyama Town Nature and Culture Village. Using dead trees from oak and pine, as well as thinned wood as fuel, it is utilized for heating the bathing facilities, hot water supply, and lobby heating. Before the introduction, an oil boiler was used as the heat source, but with the installation of the biomass boiler, fossil fuel consumption has been reduced, leading to a decrease in CO2 emissions from fossil fuels. 1. Autonomous Operation ● The fuel supply is automatically provided according to the condition of the wood chips and the combustion state in the furnace. Stable combustion is possible through autonomous operation using a unique computational control system. 2. Smoke Suppression ● The combustion device of this equipment features our original design of a grate. It efficiently takes in primary air for surface combustion, and the gases generated are promoted to burn in the space by secondary air from the upper part of the combustion chamber, thereby suppressing smoke generation. The amount of fuel and air is controlled by the control system. 3. Combustion Possible with High Moisture Content Fuel ● In addition to firewood and wood chips, even shiitake mushroom cultivation beds, which previously had high moisture content and could not be used as fuel, can now be utilized! Shiitake mushroom cultivation beds consist mainly of biologically derived sawdust, making them a type of biomass fuel. Since we have introduced combustion technology for high moisture content substrates, this boiler can also burn other high moisture biomass materials, such as wet chips, not just shiitake cultivation beds. 4. Easy Operation with Control Panel ● Automatic operation is performed by inputting various parameters through a centralized management system using the control panel. Remote monitoring is possible via PC monitors and smartphones, allowing for real-time monitoring. 5.
