Amid the increasing risks to the safety of aging infrastructure across the country, it has become mandatory to conduct close visual inspections of all national road bridges (720,000 bridges) and road tunnels (10,000 tunnels) every five years. However, the managers of road bridges and tunnels include a variety of entities such as the national government, major operators like NEXCO, prefectures, municipalities, and other organizations, leading to inconsistencies in the level of inspection work performed. Coupled with a shortage of personnel, this requires significant effort. Our company has extensive experience in inspections using three-dimensional (3D) measurement devices (3D scanners) for measuring the surface shape (damage) of steel structures and concrete structures. Our company uses a 3D scanner to measure the dimensions of products and parts. By projecting a laser onto the target object, we detect its irregularities and capture the data as 3D information. The 3D scanner allows us to overlay the acquired 3D data with the product's 3D data, enabling visual comparison and evaluation. Additionally, by 3D scanning products that do not have drawings, we can recreate them in CAD and generate drawings.
