Balancer Wyman: Case Study in Food Factories - Reducing Strain on Arms, Shoulders, and Lower Back
Carrying a 30kg bag of sugar by two people was done 200 times in half a day! By introducing the balancer "Wyman," the task can be performed by one person, reducing strain on the back and other areas.
At the food manufacturer, approximately 200 transportation tasks were repeated in a concentrated half-day effort to prepare for shipping, involving the movement of 30kg sugar bags. The transportation tasks were carried out by moving the bags onto pallets with two people working together. Since the transportation tasks required two people, it took up manpower and made it impossible to perform other tasks during that time, resulting in poor work efficiency. Additionally, this was a labor-intensive task, and with the daily high volume of transportation, it placed a significant physical burden on employees, leading to a desire to reduce this burden. ■Solution and Effects To address the issues, we proposed our Balancer Wyman "MY-BS-105." We adopted a vacuum suction attachment to enable the transportation of 30kg sugar bags without physical strain on the body. Furthermore, we designed it as a cart that allows for fine adjustments in position within the factory. As a result, the physical burden on employees was reduced, and they were able to perform the tasks alone, leading to improved work efficiency. *For more details, please contact us or download the PDF.
