This is an introduction to a case where AppleScript was called continuously to achieve batch processing.

The Biblos font is a font for Mac OS 9 that includes a set of external characters such as symbols. The customer was using Biblos characters in Illustrator 8 to create a product catalog, but with the transition to Mac OS X and Morisawa's OpenType fonts, they requested development. The conversion process to variant characters was achieved through an Illustrator plugin that reads a configuration file describing the source and target font names and GID/CID, and performs character replacement.
