【Technical Trivia】What are the advantages and disadvantages of far infrared and near infrared?

Which is better, far infrared heaters or near infrared heaters? I delved a little into the differences between them.

In the near-infrared range, the energy conversion efficiency from electricity is about 90%, which is quite high, but the heat absorption rate by the human body is low. When considering the same amount of electrical energy, both near-infrared heaters and far-infrared heaters have similar heating efficiency in the end. However, near-infrared heaters tend to be smaller in capacity due to issues like glare and concerns about inrush current. Given this characteristic and their very fast startup time, we recommend considering them for localized heating in particularly limited spaces, such as in restrooms. In contrast, far-infrared heaters can be used more generally for localized heating due to their superior heating effect compared to near-infrared heaters.
