Osaka High-Grade Casting Iron Works has introduced a 3D printer (3D Systems' Projet3500) as part of its equipment development. The company has also implemented 3D CAD internally and conducted external training over the course of a year to enable young engineers to handle 3D data. They have quickly started manufacturing casting molds in-house and have been successful in doing so. They have produced many products used not only in ships but also in technically challenging tractor parts and internal combustion engine (engine parts) as well as other industrial equipment.
