AI app "Kabepita" that identifies wallpaper model numbers in seconds developed through industry-academia collaboration between Komatsu Ltd. and Doshisha University.
Komatsu Ltd. (Headquarters: Higashi-Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture, CEO: Satoshi Komatsu) has launched the wallpaper AI identification app "Kabepita," equipped with the "Automatic Texture Identification Program" developed in collaboration with the Intelligent Information Engineering Laboratory of Doshisha University (Professor: Masahiro Okuda), on the App Store (January 31) and Google Play (February 7).
"Kabepita" can instantly identify approximately 600 types of commonly used wallpapers (mass-produced wallpaper) from six major domestic manufacturers (Sangetsu, Shinkol, Toli, Tokiwa, Lilicala, and Runon) simply by taking a photo with a smartphone, displaying the manufacturer name, product number, and catalog for the top five items.
The identification accuracy for the top item is nearly 90%, while the accuracy for displaying the top five items is about 95%. For discontinued or non-digitized product numbers (wallpapers other than those from the six major domestic manufacturers), the app will display the five closest product numbers from the listed items. This app not only improves the efficiency of the identification process but also serves as a highly beneficial tool for limiting the scope of construction, selecting repair materials, and assisting with design, planning, and coordination.
